DAVID AMRAM’S 3RD ANNUAL BIRTHDAY BASH THIS MONDAY DECEMBER 11 AT THE THEATER FOR THE NEW CITY

David Amram’s Third Annual East Village Birthday Bash
The concert begins at 8 pm and will go until 11:30 pm or later.
The first half of the program will be four of Amram’s classical chamber music compositions
The featured piece on the first half of the evening will be Three Lost Loves for violin, alto saxophone and piano , based on romances of characters in the novels of Willa Cather, Zora Neale Hurston and Jack Kerouac. . The soloists are violinist Elmira Darvarova, saxophonist Kenneth Radnofsky (both of whom commissioned the piece) and pianist Thomas Weaver. Three Lost Loves was recently recorded in Boston as the highlight of a new CD of Amram’s classical chamber music compositions, produced by Elmira Darvarova.
Special guest artist Howard Wall, french hornist with the New York Philharmonic, will perform Amram’s Blues and Variations for Monk
The second half of the night will be an Amram Jam with Amram’s jazz quintet with Kevin Twigg,Rene Hart, Adam Amram and Elliot Peper, joined by Jazz virtuoso trombonist Ken McKintyre, vocalist Renee Manning,Isralii bazookie and guitar soloist Avram Pengas, plus surprise guest luminaries from the worlds of Latin, folk, jazz, and Native American music.
There will also be readings by friends form the theater and films of Jack’Kerouac’s prose with music, which Kerouac and Amram pioneered for the first-ever public jazz & poetry readings presented in New York City in 1957, and other surprises.
