Please join us for a screening of the film Crip Camp (2020), by directors Jim LeBrecht and Nicole Newnham. Crip Camp is an award-winning documentary that tells the story of Camp Jened and its impact upon the disability rights movement. Jim LeBrecht, who attended Camp Jened and went on to play an integral role in the disability rights movement will join us for a Q&A after the film. Jim is a current board member of The Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund.
This event is co-sponsored by OT/PTs For A Fair ContractCitywide Council on Special Education and Movement of Rank and File Educators. Our intention in producing this event is to have disability history, rights, and advocacy inform the work of teachers, paraprofessionals, service providers and the public. We hope this will help spark a dialogue about our dreams for Special Education in NYC!
