Directions

Three characters, stuck in purgatory, are visited by a jock-strapped man who promises them a way to escape, if they confess their sins aloud, even the sin that involves passively witnessing the homophobic attack he suffered in Soho.

BIOS
Austin Alexis, playwright. His plays have been performed/read at Performance Space 122 in their Performance Zone Festival, Love Creek Productions, Vineyard Theater in their Performance Zone Festival, Henry Street Theater, Tribeca Lab, Samuel French Short Plays Festival, Cornelia Street Cafe, Theater for the New City, Love Creek Productions, and elsewhere. He was a Downtown Urban Arts Festival finalist and alternate, and received honorable mention in the Writer’s Digest and First Stage L.A. playwrighting competitions. His fiction, nonfiction and poetry have appeared in Rattle, Barrow Street and in other journals. His full-length poetry collection is Privacy Issues from Broadside Lotus Press.

LARAINE GOODMAN, director, tap dancer, has conceived, produced and directed critically acclaimed jazz tap and rhythm-theater shows in NYC over the past 30 years. Her shows include Rhythm Connection series at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe. Her numerous shows at La MaMa Experimental Theater Club include conceiving, producing and directing The Woman Under The Bed (prior version at The Nuyorican Poets Cafe); Vaudeville 2000; Vaudeville 2000: Milking the Millennium; From Bamiyan to the Bowery; A Brief Look at Everything and Nothing; Space, Time, Tempo;  Muse & Amuse at La MaMa Galleria. Her sold out production Let Me Be Frank, 100th Birthday tribute to Frank Sinatra was produced at The Club at La MaMa. Outdoor shows include Club 124, and Traffic Jam. Laraine conceived and directed Jazz Tap Playground at Little Island’s “Generation Dance” series in the summer of 2022.  The Mad Tappers, Laraine’s tap troupe performs at TNC every Halloween.  She was thrilled to be Tap City’s 2020 Tap Preservation Award recipient.
